ASEAN JAMBOREE

Date : 4th to 9th December2010


JAMBOREE VENUE
The Jamboree will be held around Sarimbun, an area located in the north-western part of Singapore which hosts multiple permanent campsites. The campsites include the Singapore Scout Association's Sarimbun Campsite, Girl Guides Singapore's Camp Christine, and Ministry of Education's Jalan Bahtera Adventure Centre. These 3 permanent camp sites will be the main camping area while a huge Land Area outside the Campsite will be used as Jamboree Activity area.

JAMBOREE FEE
The Jamboree fees for overseas participants are as follow:-
International Participants :USD200
International IST :USD150
The fees cover food, tents, on-site activities, off-site educational visits to place of interests, Jamboree Souvenirs, Camp Insurance, Inland transportation between the airport and Jamboree site.

PARTICIPANTS
3000 Scouts and leaders from local and overseas are expected to join in the Jamboree.

ELIGIBILITY
Young people (Boys and Girls)aged 11-16 are welcome to join in the Jamboree as participants. Adult Leaders & Rovers-aged 17 and above are encouraged to sigh up as Contingent Staff or as members of International Service Team(IST)

CLIMATE
Like most ASEAN countries, Singapore is generally hot and humid, with the temperature almost never dropping below 20'C(68'F), even at night, and usually clibing to 30'C(86'F)during the day. Recent times, it even reached 35'C. Humidity is high, mounting over a 75% mark.

JAMBOREE CORE ACTIVITY

ADVENTURE CHALLENGE
Scouts will have the opportunity to engage in challenging and adventurous activities to learn valuable skills are critical for survival in an increasingly inter-connected and rapidly changing modern word.

GLOBAL AND CULTURAL VILLAGES
Global and cultural hands-on exposure & active learning are the main planned programmes. This is in line with the theme "Scout for Peace" of the World Organization of the Scout Movement(WOSM).Scout will have the chance to learn about each other's tradition and culture, thus gain a better understanding of common global issues.

SPORTS EXPOSURE
In line with the team of the inaugural Youth Olympics Games in Singapore and BP's emphasis on healthy lifestyle, participants will be introduced to various traditional and modern sports as part of the Scouting activities. This will further enhance the outdoor ruggedness of our youth and the espirit de corp.

EDUCATIONAL VISITS
Educational visits will be conducted at various places of interests in Singapore , ranging from the culturally-rich to the educationally-rewarding.From the exciting Wild Life Park to various cultural and educational attractions, participants will be exposed to the latest knowledge on various issues of interest. Urban Scouting and Environmental conservation will also be featured.

SUS CAMP ACTIVITIES
A Scout Jamboree can never be complete without the wonderful mix of campfire activities such as singing, building a bonfire, playing games and enjoying each another's friendship and bonding.

ADULT LEADERS EVENTS
Woodbadge reunion, Adult Leader's Hub and Cultural Nights are some of the highlights of Adult Leaders'event. Overseas leaders may be able to opt for
the highlights of Adult Leaders' event.Overseas leaders may be able to opt for additional off site activities.
